INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 13, 2017) – Fresh off the launch of its highly popular GPS-enabled, job-search app in the Cincinnati-Dayton metropolitan region, WorkHere is practicing what it preaches. The Indianapolis-based startup has “gone local” on a key hire, adding former Angie’s List sales executive Tim Adams as its director of business development.
Adams was instrumental in growing Angie’s List’s sales and sales training team from 90 to more than 600 people. Prior to that, Adams was a sales leader at HSBC, a global banking and financial services corporation. The Indianapolis resident is a graduate of Indiana State University.
WorkHere CEO Howard Bates said the timing of Adams’ hiring couldn’t be better. The company has secured nearly 50,000 individual job-seeking app users since its launch in April 2016. That number could triple or quadruple as WorkHere continues to gain traction among workers and employers in Indiana and expands into Cincinnati, Chicago, Louisville and other Midwestern metropolitan areas.
“We are very pleased to have Tim join WorkHere during this early high-growth phase. Tim’s background will be helpful as we scale up WorkHere’s sales team and open new markets. Sales is a two-pronged effort for us; not only do we have to sell job seekers on using the app, we also have to secure employer users that pay for enhanced job listings in WorkHere and for automated job candidate engagement campaigns.”
Added Bates, “Tim’s experience at Angie’s List was very similar, and we plan to leverage his knowledge base as we rapidly scale up with employers and job seekers.”
For his part, Adams was attracted to WorkHere because it meets the needs of individuals in manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, hospitality, retail, and other service industries who don’t benefit from social platforms like LinkedIn and often have difficulty networking and finding jobs in the communities in which they prefer to live.
“Up to 80 percent of jobs are never posted on the Internet, so it’s close to impossible to find them,” Adams said. “I joined WorkHere because it serves a great purpose: helping people improve their lives by finding better jobs, closer to home and with companies they want to join. WorkHere is a great product with both a business and social purpose. It will change how people find work and how employers find people.”
The WorkHere app is available on Google Play, the iTunes App Store and at WorkHere.com. Visit
